Welcome to FloridaFD.com |
 |
When you hear the town horn,
remember that our dedicated
volunteers are rushing to help
save a life or property of one
of your neighbors--sometimes at
3:00 in the morning.
Our system is not unique. Across
the country about 75% of all
firefighters are volunteers.
Their dedication is amazing.
Calls come in at all hours of
the day and night and these
dedicated women and men drop
whatever they are doing and
respond rapidly and
professionally to mitigate
emergency situations.
If you have ever felt the urge
to help your neighbors in their
greatest time of need and build
lasting relationships with other
dedicated people like yourself,
think about volunteering with
your local fire / EMS
department.
Volunteer firefighting / EMS not
for you? That's ok. Please do us
this one favor, however:
When you see a blue light -
please PULL OVER!! It will only
take a few seconds - but in an
emergency seconds count!
A car with a flashing blue light
is a volunteer firefighter
responding to an emergency. The
blue light is to alert other
drivers that we are on our way
to an emergency--it's up to
other drivers to pull over and
let us go by!
Please let us pass. It could
give us the extra time to save a
life or stop a fire before it's
out of control. For a fire or
rescue a quick response is
always important!
In a few minutes these same
people will be responding with a
red light and siren. |
